Barner Brand
Based in Barcelona, Barner was founded in early 2017 by two friends. After living their lives totally immersed in the digital world, they had identified a problem that was not only affecting them, but millions of people all around the globe.
Overexposure to blue light.
Today, after many years of learning and evolving, Barner has gone beyond developing innovative, high quality blue light glasses. Our collection now includes sunglasses, reading glasses, prescription glasses and sunglasses for kids, each made from a range of sustainable materials.
How we started
How we started
Our founders, Edu and Ray, love hard work as much as they love technology. But they knew that spending long hours in front of their screens, day in, day out, was harmful to their eyes.
They wanted to find a solution that would protect their eyes and improve their quality of life, without sacrificing style. After realizing that the blue light glasses on the market were low quality and lacking in style, they decided to create their own.

Our company was founded in Barcelona, known as “Barna”, to the city’s locals.
The term "Barner" is our way of referring to all the people that, in one way or another, are connected to the incredible city of Barcelona. Not just those who live there, but also those who live the Barcelona lifestyle, wherever they may be.
A Barner is someone who is full of positivity, insatiable energy and an appreciation for the beautiful world around them. In short, someone who lives the good life.
The founders
The founders
Barner was founded in early 2017 by two friends, Edu and Ray. They’d met a few years earlier, in Bali, when crashing at a mutual friend’s house. After the trip, each went on their own adventures – Edu to Ireland and Singapore, working for Google and Samsung; and Ray to Japan and Colombia, working for Accenture.
A few years later their paths crossed again and they realized that, despite their different backgrounds, they shared an entrepreneurial spirit. This spirit was inspired by the city of Barcelona, where they had both returned after many years of living abroad.
Each had their own experience of living and working abroad, and both had come to realize the impact of a generation living their lives totally immersed in the digital world. So, Edu and Ray decided to work together to find a solution to blue light overexposure, a solution that would protect people’s vision and improve their quality of life, without sacrificing style.
And so, Barner was born.
