What makes our capsule sustainable?

The material used for this collection — called Rilsan® Clear G850 Rnew® — is 45% bio-based. It has a favorable climate change impact compared to conventional polymers derived from fossil fuels.

Are sustainable eyeglasses flexible?

Yes, they are! Rilsan® is a lightweight, durable, and flexible material with a great range of colors and transparency options.

Why is Rilsan® considered bio-based?

Rilsan® Clear G850 Rnew® is a 45% plant-based material produced from castor beans, the seeds of a type of spurge flowering plant called the castor oil plant.

What are bioplastic frames?

Bioplastic frames are eyeglass frames made fully or partially from natural and renewable sources. In the case of Rilsan® Clear G850 Rnew®, 45% of its composition is made from a polyamide called PA11 which is produced from castor oil.

Castor oil is a multi-purpose vegetable oil extracted from castor beans. This oil is later polymerized to obtain the polyamide needed to produce the material.

Is the packaging of this biobased capsule also sustainable?

All the packaging materials for this collection are recycled, including a recycled neoprene pouch to keep the glasses safe plus a printed Barner Box, made from recycled paper.

Rilsan® Clear G850 Rnew® est une matière végétale à 45% produite à partir de graines de ricin, les graines d'un type d'euphorbe à fleurs appelée ricin.

Les montures en bioplastique sont des montures de lunettes fabriquées entièrement ou partiellement à partir de sources naturelles et renouvelables. Dans le cas du Rilsan® Clear G850 Rnew®, 45% de sa composition est constituée d'un polyamide appelé PA11 qui est produit à partir d'huile de ricin.

L'huile de ricin est une huile végétale polyvalente extraite des graines de ricin. Cette huile est ensuite polymérisée pour obtenir le polyamide nécessaire à la fabrication du matériau.

Tous les matériaux d'emballage de cette collection sont recyclés, y compris une pochette en néoprène recyclé pour conserver les lunettes en toute sécurité, ainsi qu'une Barner Box imprimée, fabriquée à partir de papier recyclé.
